I am planning on starting to breadboard a couple of schematics but I have a question regarding reading them. I think I get it but wanted to check.

I have read a few that have points that end with tags like, VCC and 1/2VCC and VA,vb,vc and so on. Is this just a shorthand and tidy way of noting that these points all connect together?

It seems they all are connecting to positive points in the schematics.

Thank you!!!

This is correct. All points which connect to a specific label are connected together. In the electronics biz, all points connected by wires constitute a "net". Nets may be named or not. "Ground" is a net that is usually named, for instance. "Vcc" is commonly named too. The points which connect to, for instance, "Va" are connected only to "Va" nodes, not to other labeled nets.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
