if i make a pedal that is a guitar op amp buffer followed by a passive varitone then followed by a boost circuit. will the low impedance output of the buffer have a negative effect on how a varitone traditionally works?
YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT LARGE PEDALBOARDS....

.... I BET YOU WISH YOUR PEDALBOARD WAS AS LARGE AS MINE

It shouldn't.  I've only gone so far as to stick a Stratoblaster JFET ahead of a varitone-like circuit in a box, but have not inserted a buffer stage after it.  In the other hand, if you plug it into another pedal that has a buffer stage on the input, it still works fine.  So, whether the buffer is in the same box as the varitone or on the other side of an input jack in a second box, my sense is that the functioning of the varitone will not be deleteriously affected.
