Buffer before Si/Ge bazz fuss

tweaking the living crap out of a 2N3904/AC 127 hybrid bazz fuss and stuck it after an MXR dynacomp. wow! much more clarity, stability, and the possibility of overdriving the signal even further...i could be wrong but also some more lower end as well it sounds like. was thinking an additional stage in front of bazz fuss might be in order. but am i hearing the boost of the mxr itself or is there some buffering going on? would like to explore this further. any recs on what to try first? a TL071 buffer like in the guitar handbook or a JEFT buffer/booster?
