It's time to get more jacks. I noticed that Switchcraft jacks costs are much higher now. There is a Taiwan alternative that EH says is same as Switchcraft and high quality for less cost. Should I try these or should I just get the usual and change the Switchcraft price to reflect the higher costs? Let me know your thoughts - or if there is another alternative that is good quality. I hate crappy quality jacks; they are not worth it.

Thanks,

Aron

I use the Neutrik jacks in my builds.  They're nice and solid and are a good alternative

Yep,

I've went with Neutrik as well. Solid Jacks, no problems.
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

The Neutriks are actually more robust that the switchcrafts. That's what I use as well.

switchcrafts!!! I've used the neutriks but I don't think the quality is as good.  but that's just my opinion....

PRR

1960s Switchcraft were acceptable. Some I bought this century were clearly inferior and annoying. Some no-name jacks I've had were just about as indifferent and annoying.

But my needs are not your needs. Stock the Switchcraft at cost-Plus for those who still worship the name. Offer the SC-clones as a lower-price alternative. The Neutriks are very good, but not cheap and not a direct-fit for Switchcraft. I think you should offer them, but I know you can't afford to buy and store too many different part types.

If you're in Canada you can get the Neutriks in quantity (ten) for very little here.

NYS230's, stereo are ~10ยข apiece more. (Also great prices on Kester 245 solder, sorry)

Neutrik makes too darn many parts.

The ones I was thinking of are very solid and very expensive:

Eight bucks a pop at Mouser.

Yeah those ones are dear, Mouser soundly beats Electrosonic's price for nine or less of those but ten or more E-Sonic's got them. (nj3fp6c)

Pretty rare to find any of this stuff cheaper this side of the border then southside, even things produced in this country can often be had for less outside the country.

more robust than a Switchcraft 12B?  If so, I'll give em a try...

I've actually been using an even higher quality jack made of phenolic, from an unknown local company that folded in the 80's, but I was only able to get monos

I buy Switchcraft #11's in bulk a couple times a year (mostly we use them to replace the crappy jacks in Epiphones and Squires, which last about a week after you buy the guitar), and they look just like the ones I see in `50's and `60's Strats, which still work perfectly.  I've seen more than a few Neutrik jacks from the last tens years that are totaled.  NOTHING beats a Switchcraft jack, and all of the import versions are noticeably inferior.
