I searched and couldn't really find anything. I was wondering if anyone has checked out either the Eric Johnson or Joe Bonomassa signature fuzz faces? These have intrigued me, specifically the Bonamassa one (that guy's tone smokes!). My sweetwater says it's "specially voiced for humbuckers" but I was wondering if anyone here has checked them out under the hood?

Are they truly new creations or just clever marketing?

Just saw there was another post on the EJ one! Would still like to know any opinions on the Bonamassa unit

the bonamassa unit uses russian transistors, 2 Ge, and some tiny trimpots under the board, presumably for biasing. cute the way they made it look more or less vintage on the PCB.
my life is a tribute to the the great men and women who held this country together when the world was in trouble. my debt cannot be repaid, but i will do my best.

1) +1 on his tone, but keep in mind he's quite the gearhead.  The tone he aims for takes his guitars and amps into account

2)  As many here have noted over the years, the basic FF design is subject to tremendous inconsistency in performance.  All the various "special" FFs attempt to consistently nail one of the many personalities  FFs are capable of.

And they both have been rather thoroughly dissected at the other place.
