This seems like a clone but printed on the circuit board it says " EH  3003  USA 2007 ".

Sorry for the crap photo but does this look familiar to anyone? Chinese knockoff?

I forgot to add that the transistors are sitting in cut-up IC sockets, just like the beginner project.

There is some possibility that it's an EH prototype, I guess, but it's far more likely that it's DIYer's clone with just that lettering on it to help remember what version was cloned or when the clone was made, or both.
