Hey,I'm a DIY beginner, and ended up inadvertently buying a batch of BFW10 JFETs (the guy at the store didn't stock J201s,and suggested this as an alternative). I'm planning to tackle some of ROGs JFET projects (have successfully built some IC based ones)...so are the BFW10s effective substitutes? And if not, then can any JFET based ICs be used?

Here's the BFW10/11 datasheet -

2sk117 has a bit more gain. 2N5458 has a bit less gain than J201.

These guys here http://english.electronica-pt.com/db/cross-reference.php?ref=2sb303 suggest BFW 13.

the Vgs in the datasheet you linked is much higher than a J201 which is usually around 1V. the bfw10 said max was abiut 8V. It won't work the same.
