Power filter cap values

Hi everyone, a quick and possibly silly question... Does changing the value of the power filter cap (between +9 and gnd) affect the tone in any way or does any high value (100uF+) work just the same?
I am currently working on an IC Big Muff and only have absolutely HUGE 220uF and was thinking about using 100uF instead, would that work? And if so, I take it it would be the same on any other pedal..?!
Thanks!

It will make no obvious change in the sound. Bypass/filter caps are one of those things where you just need enough (to a first approximation).

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I bought the worst power supply I could find, with both buzz and hum, and I use it to pick whatever makes it tolerable. A (negative ground) fuzz face ended up with 1000u.

Only problem with bigger caps is if you unplug your input jack while the effect is on, you get a brief moment of it being powered by the cap. With an open circuit input this can cause some funny (but very brief) noises on some circuits. But that's not really a problem, is it.
