So far I have successfully build the vintage silicon fuzz pedal from small bear. Next up I built the boutique screamer from beavis audio.

Both of which worked great.

So then I thought I'd try the dod 250 overdrive on beavis audio.

I've got all the bits, the only change was to use a ua741cn, rather than the lm741 on the layout.

I've built it as per the layout (which is easy to follow, thanks). But I'm getting no output at all.

The voltages on the chip are
1: 0.00v
2: 4.48
3: 4.28
4: 0.00
5: 0.00
6: 4.51
7: 9.01
8: 0.00

I tried the output lead directly on to pin 6, but got nothing. I also tried the output on pin 3 and got the clean input signal.

I'm sure I've made a mistake, but i can't see it.

Here is the layout:

Any advice, would be greatly appreciated.

maybe the 741 you used is not a good subtitute. I'm strict at using IC's so I really havent got the same problems.

Judging by your v's, looks like the op amp is doing its job. Those diodes don't look like 4148s though.
I found with my breadboard ocassionally a component might not contact so i go and wiggle them. From a cursory glance everything seems to be in the right place.

Ah yes, I I forgot I'd tried a 914 alongside 2 1n34's in the clipping stage.

I dd plug the output into pin 6 of the op amp, which I believe is the signal output, and got nothing.

I have also tried another identical chip, with the same outcome..

This is working great now. I found the problem, it was me!

Serves me right for playing with it just before bed. I think I had the input and output lines the wrong way round!

Oh well, works now and sounds good, thanks to those who responded.

did one with led's and then 1n34a germ clippers on a switch . love it .
im learning , we'll thats what i keep telling myself
