ok i have spent the last few days researching and have come up frustrated.

I want to convert the audio bpm from a Boss DB-90 to a midi clock signal. Red Sound makes a SoundBITE Micro http://www.redsound.com/products/SoundBITEmicro
i have no experience in it and it seems pretty crappy quality. surely this can not be the ONLY hardware device that accomplishes this.

Unless someone can direct me to a dead simple Midi Clock generator (preferably rack mount) which i also can't seem to find
i have found this http://gieskes.nl/master-clock-generator/ but not ideal

i don't want a drum machine.

Check out our Master Control module.  You can convert a Control Voltage (CV) to MIDI Clock by grounding the Tap input via a CD4066 chip.

Let me know if you have questions.

ok that looks cool. so before i spend an hour reading through your stuff can you answer a question?

All i need that device to do is the tempo functions. i don't mind all the buttons although some are unnecessary. i don't want or need the programs. the context is our drummers love the DB-90 but it has no midi clock output. we have a lot of musicians that use midi sync devices but the drummer wants to be in control of the click. so all i need is for them to set the audio bpm we hear on the db-90 and then match that with your midi device................or slave the db-90 to your midi device (just thought of that) then they could tap it on your device and it simultaneously sends midi to the musicians and sets the audio click.

haha so i guess my question is can you ditch the program stuff and it only do tempo?

also how customizable are those? like if i wanted two midi out's instead of a midi in?

I have one. It works very well for me. I've used it successfully to sync my Ableton tracks to external audio.

The board has 2 midi outs.  Making MIDI repeaters is also very easy with a 4049 or 4050 buffer and a few other parts if you need more than 2.

If you skip the up and down buttons and the pot, it will always be on Program 1, Channel 15, so yes, you can just use the tempo.  You can work it any way you want, but it usually makes sense to use the MIDI Clock as the Master.

hmmm... i am interested...
do you have an email that i can communicate with you? i would have to run some of these ideas over with my boss for budget reasons. because already i am thinking of some bigger customizations then what your Master Control has right now. and if you can't customize it for us we would just build it ourselves with your parts most likely.

i have a few questions still but i can communicate those through email.

Ok all here is where I am at and need your help :)

I want to hack a DB90 to send Midi Clock

After talking with Molten Voltage I want to buffer the pulse off the speaker, or better yet any LED
signal, and use that buffered signal to trigger the  Pedal Sync Master Control Tap
input via a CD4066 or transistor, then have the Master Control send the
MIDI Clock.

I am new to small electronics work and would love insight on how to accomplish this!
