Pinouts

Is there a regular site you guys use for checking pinouts or do you just google it and try some?

I search for the datasheet from the original manufacturer every time I use a new or different part.

Then, instead of just going to some other web page, I save the datasheet for the part in a folder I titled "All Datasheets", with sub folders for each kind of thing.

It starts slow, but soon you have your own datasheet library.

This happens. That's why it's important to get the datasheet for the manufacturer that actually made the part you have, not just any manufacturer that used the same letters and numbers.

I was just about to say that. You can just google the part number or search on the manufacturer's website but I found http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/ to be an invaluable tool. It offers various suggestions if it doesn't match your exact search which can be more useful than Google's tools.

its not always apparent to me who the manufacturers are though.
I'll do the datasheet library thats a good idea. I already have a bunch they just need reorganising. Cheers

When you search the site I mentioned the results page show all the manufacturers of the matching product and their logos. You can also tell by particular prefixes and suffixes. There are also pages like this one with an index of logos.
