capacitor confusion

it might just be me being thick but i dont get the eqausions for capacitors in parrallel
surely if i dont have a 200 nf cap. I can put 2x 100nf in parallel and i would have a 200nf cap NO?
Ma throats as dry as an overcooked kipper.

That is correct. Capacitors values add in parallel, resistors add in series.
