Hey i need help with a project.

I want to convert the voltage coming out of a DB-90 metronome headphone jack to something that would be used for a tap tempo. like a resistor or cd4066. im new in this area and not sure how to get started.

the bigger picture is to use the voltage coming from the metronome's bpm and convert it to midi clock using molten's Master Control http://www.pedalsync.com/documentation/PedalSync_Master_Control_Development_Board_Datasheet.pdf

i want to make a "middleman" box that goes in between the two.

I think I've heard that most tap pedals just shorts tip to ground (sleeve) when pressed. So I was thinking that one could use a 4066 with ground on the input, clock it with an analog clock signal and then connect the tip to the output of the 4066. (i read this on another forum and don't know how to start with this)

does this make sense? any help would be greatly appreciated. this would be my first build with digital components (and realizing this is a bit over my head)  ???

I'm familiar with that idea. It's one of those apparently simple things that - for me at least - got more complex as I went.

I designed exactly this, plus some other features into a box which the company I work for announced at NAMM in 2012 and is now shipping.

It can be done, but I'm not sure it's a good DIY project, just from the amount of microcontroller programming that was needed. The simple approach of just looking for peaks doesn't work very well, I know from sad experience.  :icon_lol:

and what is this box? because if it works well for us my company would buy some from you  ;D

i have a friend who has a good deal of experience microcontrol programming...so if you also care to indulge me on how you did it i would love the experience trying to build it. im trying to dive face first into this diy world   ;D
