The above circuit works with bipolar supply (+/-9..15V).
I have just modded it to make a stand alone version, powered with single 9...30VDC supply, added the input and virtual ground buffers, output volume control and a small series resistance at the output to ensure stability.

I haven't built it though, so i can't post any sound samples...
