Sonic Boomer - switch question

I've just built Topopiccione's Sonic Boomer: http://topopiccione.atspace.com/PJ09EHSonicBoomer.html

I'm only using it with trigger input, no inbuilt mic-trigger yet.

The DPDT switch (verified I correctly wired it) doesn't seem to do anything. It's supposed to be a "low/high" range switch, not sure what that specifically means. I used an on-on DPDT toggle, using the two outermost pin sets (not center pins). Anyone built this, know the correct wiring and function?
- does it only work with the mic-based trigger, and not the trigger input?
- Is it really needed? I get huge range from the 1M dual pot for Pitch -- like deep bass all the way to interesting 'clave' type sounds.

It sounds great but here's this toggle switch with no purpose and I'm wondering if there's some sound control I'm missing out on.

You have to use the center lugs of the switch!  Doesn't seem to matter which of the wires you move as long as you do the same on both sides.
