This is an active mid control that can give up to 10 dB of mid boost or cut.

Here's the frequency analysis, sweeping the boost/cut pot. It's hard to see the line at the bottom but it does go down to -10dB

I'm thinking of making a website to post the circuits I've designed (3 so far) and some spice analysis articles I'd like to do. What do you guys think?

Cool. Have you actually built this yet? I always like to hear how real world performance stacks up to a simulation.

I'm going to try and find time this weekend to breadboard it but if I can't then I'll probably try it out during the week.

Cool...

Just breadboarded the circuit this morning and it sounds good. There is a bit of clipping on the high mid boost settings. That could be fixed by running it on a higher voltage or adding a gain control. Sound clips coming soon...

Sound clip is here.
Bypass - full mid boost - no boost or cut - full mid cut

Sounds like that works pretty well.  :icon_cool:

I'm pretty pleased with it. I'll probably build it once I'm done my valvecaster and a couple of other projects.  ;)

It sounds like it might be useful mounted in a guitar with a concentric pot controlling the boost/cut & volume.

Maybe this is too old thread but still useful :D i like the mid boost sounded here... i want to try this circuit and add it to my guitar :D maybe i can simulate the neck pick up using bridge pickup :D any ideas?

roseblood11

would be even more useful with a pot for the center frequency!

askwho69

yes it will be more flexible :D
