Ludwig Phase II fuzz question.

I've been staring at the Ludwig schem for three straight days now, and a question arose in my brain...

Q5 and Q6 of the fuzz section, would it still work if they were rearranged into a frequency tripler arrangement? I mean, if we take this;



and replace it with this (not all of it, just the 3906 / 3904 section);



Maybe add the clipping diodes as well? Wonder if it would work. Any sim experts out there wanna give it a virtual whirl?
