Tried swapping it for a standard boss style jack and it wouldn't power up. Worked when I put the original one back in (so I know I didn't fry anything). Anyone know y this wouldn't work?

It is the opposite polarity.  The line 6 expects tip positive, the boss standard is tip negative.

You can kludge a 2.1mm jack in there and swap the tip and barrel connections by cutting the traces on the pcb and re wiring them. I tried it on an fm-4 and will never do it again as long as the little visual sound L6 adapters (and godlyke makes one too) are out there. It's a royal pain in the ass. It may actually be easier to drill a hole and use a regular panel mount jack.

are you sure? The boss type jacks will replace the original Line 6, I did it with mine. As long as the center pin goes to the Positive on the PCB and barrel sleeve to ground, it should work.

I'm sure.  The Boss adapter is the opposite polarity, center negative.

Wait, didn't you just post yours is broken and things are getting crazy hot?
