ok i know its not a stompbox, but maybe this itd be helpful to somebody someday, besides just me.

I have this alesis control pad, and the rows are organized in a kinda series.

my problem is that when i hit the top left pad, it triggers the whole row of pads, and the only thing i noticed is that the red wire coming from the top left pad, is crimped.

see pictrures.

but do you think this is the cause of the short and the other pads being triggered?

it was smashed in the housing when i got it.

could be that crimping... i would snip that part  out and rejoin it, you have a bit of slack there to play with.

at least you'll know if it is that or not....if not, check the wire connections to the pcb too.

good luck. Rob.

before you resolder the red wire (after snipping out the squiched segment), try hitting the left pad again ....whilst that pad itself shouldn't trigger (on account the wire is snipped!)....do the others still trigger when hitting the left pad with the red wire snipped?

i snipped the wire which ill be resoldering tomorrow although.

oddly the other triggers still activate when i hit the pad with relative force.
oh well i guess i just need to play really sofly to make this drum pad work the way id like it to.
thanks for that idea.

Do the remaining pads also trigger one another (when struck hard) or is it solely when the left hand pad is hit hard?

Since you are going to be resoldering anyway, you way as well snip the left pad black wire (or desolder is from the brass disc when you've got your soldering iron on) & then try the same test again.....if they still trigger, then to my mind, can only be the 'hit' vibration telegraphing through the chassis onto the other pads

Nyklus

oh I got you. so take the test a step further and try desoldiering the top lefts connection to the other pads as well.

ill try this, thought about it over night and its only the top row that have this problem. if it were the chassis it'd affect the bottom row of pads. and it doesn't. so I'm going to give this a try.
