I'm working on building a neovibe and have a question about capacitor choices. I'm going off the project file I found at general guitar gadgets: http://generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/neovibeupdate.pdf?phpMyAdmin=78482479fd7e7fc3768044a841b3e85a

A lot of the capacitors listed in this file were not available from Mouser. I ordered some substitutes trying to match specs the best I could, and only found the Mouser Ordering Guide thread here after I ordered a bunch of stuff that suggested different part numbers than what I ordered.

Can anyone tell me what difference it could make if, for example, I used 598-SK010M050ST-PB instead of the 647-UVR1H010MDD1TD suggested in the Mouser guide thread on this forum? The PDF called for 140-XRL50V1.0

PDF says:
http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Xicon/140-XRL50V10/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMtZ1n0r9vR22Qcrc4aOUXXgOPnBsK3mbg4%3d

I ordered:
http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Cornell-Dubilier/SK010M050ST-PB/?qs=%2fha2pyFadug4JIzDYXzcpvZym7EcNs20LUDR8JeglT%252bj0vnhyT0yiA%3d%3d

Mouser guide thread here says:

That will work. The Mouser catalog is a fantastic resource. However, it's necessarily broad in scope because it serves a large audience and must also accommodate a lot of comparable products from competing vendors. My Stock List:

http://www.smallbearelec.com/servlet/StoreFront

focuses strictly on parts for stompboxes and offers a "curated" selection of top-quality, known-to-work components.

Please check your personal e-mail; I sent you my spreadsheet parts list for the Neo, and I have similar lists for many other pedals.

Thanks! I'll start with what I have for now, but I still need to more parts, so I'm sure I'll be checking out your site in the near future. Plus I'm going to be building more pedals in general.

You're welcome! If you are referring to the article at GGG, there are three items that come to my mind immediately that you will either not find at Mouser or have trouble matching from there:

--the photocells
The p/n in the article was one in a line that Mouser used to stock, I think made for them by Fujitsu when that company still made CdS photocells. They have been obsolete for years now. Numerous available types will work, some better than others. You have my recommendation in the parts list, and other posters here can suggest alternates.

--the lamp
The listed type works and is readily available, though there are many other possible choices of voltage and current depending on how you bias the driver transistor.

--the speed pot
R. G. Keen wrote the article years before reverse-audio pots became commonly available. Again, see the parts list.
