Switchless wah?

The Dunlop bass Wah is a rock forward clickless engage, but it is spring loaded so if I take my foot off of it, it will automatically return to the heel position. I like it for bass pretty good, but I imagine guitar players would get pretty annoyed with it quickly.

Greetings,

Thank you all for the replies. I really learn a lot reading your posts. About the switching scheme, I plan to use a resistor and a momentary switch in place of the led ldr arrangement. I traced a schematic based on what I've read in this post. Is it correct? I didn't trace the relay connections only the one that goes to pin 1. Should I add a transistor after the inverter to drive the relay or is it enough to drive it and what value should be R2 in this scheme?

tempted to do it with a magnet and a reed switch.

hmmm, nice idea. 8 :) :icon_idea:

What about something like...
Mount rubber pad on a piece of sheet metal (Some sort of spring steel).
Have it so it is ever so slightly arced, so that when you step on it, its goes flat.
Then mount a tactile switch underneath it (similar to R.G.'s pancake switch?) ?

Just off the top of my head.

Here is another idea, a local fellow started modding wahs  by mounting a momentary switch on the treadle, so it would activate the wah anytime you put your foot on it at any position anytime you wanted to use it. I just remembered that. It should be a less complicated and cheaper mod.

Greetings,

My point is to have the same mechanism as in the bad horsie (with delay off adjustment) + relay bypass as suggested in this topic but using a resistor and a momentary switch to bypass it emulating the led/ldr. Doubts are about some values and the need/no need to add some extra components.

Thanks
