Amp footswitch w/FX loop build

I'm looking to build a footswitch with an fx loop. The loop will be for an overdrive so that will come on automatically when I switch to channel 2. But I want a second switch to switch to channel 2 without the overdrive.

I know how to build the footswitch, but how about the fx loop and tying that in to being a 2 button footswitch?

Could you describe it a bit better, or draw a picture? What does building a 'foot switch' mean? Are you actually constructing a switch? Is this for an amp? Are you looking for two true-bypass loops? Is the overdrive built into the pedal? What is channel 1? Or even channel 2 for that matter? Channel talk makes me think of an amp, but you don't mention any amps.
