What would happen if...

I was thinking about trying to do the light emitting plate that used the clipping leds to light the plexiglass so it would fade out as a note decayed.

Then I was thinking if they weren't bright enough how I would connect an LED to run from there without affecting the tone I was thinking I would just run it to ground from the clipping does but that got me thinking.

If you were using a soft clipping circuit and used two 1N4148s then took a third from one side and shunted it to ground would that perform some kind of asymmetrical hard clipping on one voltage swing then soft clipping on the other?

What would that sound like?

I want to breadboard it but my 16 month old and my 5 year old don't allow me the time, and I can't after they goto sleep because it's too loud
