Anyone tried this with differant transistors?
Infact has anyone even built one?
Did you love it?

If you don't want to order an on/off/on you can get the same effect using two spdt.

If you look at the schematic you can see that there are 3 modes - 1n9148 clippers to ground, BAT46 clippers to ground, and no clippers to ground.

Set up one spdt on/on to switch between 1n9148 and BAT46 sets of clippers (send the ends opposite to C2 to the outer 2 poles of the switch), then take the output of that switch (center pole) to one end of another spdt. Take the center pole of the second spdt and connect to ground.

Now switch 1 selects which diode clippers you use, and switch 2 selects clippers on/off.

Not sure why the schematic specifies dpdt as you don't need two poles (unless you are using an LED to indicate which clippers you are selecting).

Hope this makes sense!

Well, it's an Electra distortion. Single transistor stage, hard clipping diodes. Eventually everyone builds one or something close to it I think.

The difference is that Lovepedal builds fifty of them and gives them all different names. Use a different transistor or different diodes and you've got a different amp according to Lovepedal. Very silly.

Yeppers That works
Its can be a very messy over saturated overdirven sound.
but also a nice booster. I kinda like it it deserves more time so i can figure out my favorite settings.

I guess it was ineveitable so i had to have it Jon
Your clipper ships on my build list too. I am awaiting parts.
That was the last of my bat46's too i was saving those to build another Rothwell love squeeze. only this time hopefully small enough to be boxed.

My builds are getting quicker (its a good thing because then i can do more builds.) and tidier and smaller and i seem to be spending less time debugging of late.
OOOps did i say that out loud. Please dont let this be a jinx
BTW thanks for the diode info dude I put some 5817 on my shopping list.
Anyone know if they'res a coupon for tayda right now?

Not dissing anyone.
Adapting basic Boosters is a good way to learn though and push the envelope.
As i learnt when trying to make an booster with an "adaptable" (not sure thats the right term) input cap pot idea i had based around an treble booster and ended up doing it with an LPB because it was the only circuit i found that would work with the idea.
It must be time for me to start printing off my new book Electrical Engineering 101 and do some bedtime reading.
Night Jon boy.

Use the 5817s you just ordered. They'll work better than the bat46s.
