Are you using battery or power supply?
Use only the battery so helper can analyze and take out some variable.... OR  power supply first later the battery. .

ajstahl

Haven't even attempted using a power supply yet, have only used a battery.
Sorry to be such a pain with something pretty tedious

No no no it's okey, I find this forum members great and grateful to help, I like it here you know.
Now you try the power supply and tell us then.

There must be something wrong with how your battery is connected. If it was connected correctly then the LED could not come on with nothing in the input jack.
Check that the black wire from the battery snap is connected to the ring connection of the jack. If you have a meter check that there is no continuity between the ring of the jack and any where else.

Slacker is right, maybe there's a short in the input jack and also why no sound when it is ON. We're near I can feel it.

This isn't the best way and of course there may be variance in your spacing but can't you do something like this?

"I want to build a delay, but I don't have the time."

To try make sure it wasn't the battery i've pulled it out completely. Even with just using the power jack it STILL happens!

That is normal, using the DC jack the pedal will work with nothing in the input jack. The input jack only disconnects the battery when nothing is plugged in, it doesn't disconnect power from the DC jack.
Something is wrong with the connection of the black wire from your battery snap. It's either connected to the wrong place on the input jack or something is causing it to be shorted out to the case or to ground in some way.
If it was connected correctly then with nothing in the input jack the negative of the battery (the black wire) is not connected to ground so no current can flow from the battery so the LED cannot turn on.

Do you have multimeter?

What wire color is your input TIP? is it RED? if it is why is your 3pdt jumper wire is BLACK for the input? am I wrong? difficult to traced.
