Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone knows of a substitute for the 4011 "pulse stretcher" used on the child board of this badboy.
Seems like there's a million of these, but I cant seem to locate a 4011N as specified in the doc. any ideas?

Everyone here is probably familiar with Forrest Cook and Mr. Markov but a link or pic for the schemo or BOM will get you answers quicker.

It's a CD4011 which is a type of CMOS chip. The "one-shot pulse stretcher" is the type of circuit the CD4011 is being used in. I'd assume that any CD4011 would work for this, it's just the peak detector.

Forrest Cook:
QuoteThe one-shot circuit activates the LED, and stays on long enough that even minor clipping on the amplifier causes visible blinking.

Cool. Thanks for clarifying for me. I was a little intimidated by the amount of stuff "4011" brought up on Mouser.

You mean the 44 types of CD4011 they currently list?  ;D

Frequently worth the more-than-Chinese-slave-labor price and USPS shipping for the time you save. A whopping 3 cents more per IC than Mouser!

> a 4011N

The "N" suffix is the package type: C-DIP, P-DIP, flipchip, SOIC, ballgrid, etc.

TI has recently changed the suffixes for some of their packages.

Don't insist on "N". Check the listing.

For traditional pedal work, you want DIP. About an inch long with legs you can see (and solder).

The newer generation likes SOIC, which are too small for _my_ eyes.

@garcho- When I first looked before posting my question, I searched for 4011N, and yeah, there were a bunch.
Wasn't really sure which one to choose. So AFTER your clarification, I went back and got a texas instruments CD4011BE Logic Gate.
I assume that it'll work. Check my post numbers, I'm still new at this.

I love SBE, and go to them frequently. They get a good chunk of my paycheck about every other week.
I had checked the stock list, using the "4011N" designation because I didn't know any better, and came up with squat. Ergo, going to the varmint.

Mouser also carried the 42TM018, which was absent from SBE. I had ordered the 42TU013 from SBE, but got the other just in case I end up having issues.

@PRR- Thanks! That makes me feel like I made the right choice. I too like it when they show some leg!  :icon_wink:

Thanks guys! You've been very helpful.
