thank you everyone! for info!

i tried with sharpie i bought it at dollar store with ferric c but it took really long time and started to eat sharpie ink too!

so i think there are lots of things i did wrong here

-dollar store sharpie is probablly bad haha
-i didnt heat up ferric c
-my board is double-sided copper. so uses so much ferric.

i guess im gonna go to staples or something for better sharpie..

The issue I always had with Sharpie was that the deposited fluid was thin in many spots and these thin spots were easily eaten through by the etchant.

One thing that worked well was to use a fine art brush and overcoat the sharpie with real lacquer; thinned nail polish worked fine. Takes a long time but works well.

I did this a few times. Got tired of the artistry, then went out and learned photo resist technology.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
