Bad Belton Brick?

I built culturejam's box of hall reverb from the vero layout at tagboardfx.  I am getting a super quiet signal coming through that is muffled and dark.  But I am getting reverb and the damp control is working (when I turn up my amp loud enough to hear it) When I turn down the reverb knob my signal gets louder and less muffled.

The question I have is this... Could this be a bad belton brick?  I am getting reverb so I kinda thought it wouldnt be, but I have (read) replaced or removed and measured EVERY capacitor, I have measured every resistor and pot, used a known to be good tl074, measured the voltages coming off the 7805.  Checked trace cuts and continuity and layout at least a dozen times over the past week!  I cannot imagine I still have a mistake (though one could pop out and punch me in the face still I suppose) Can a bad brick still reverberate?

Thanks!

I haven't been a member of this forum as long as many here but...in my relatively short time here, I have noticed a pattern.

I have noticed the wanting/need to blame components for a non working build.

I recognize this type of behavior because I too played the component "blame game"

Out of all of the times I looked for a problem, thinking to myself, "it has to be a bad part because I can't find anything wrong with my build," I have not once found a bad part! I have always found something wrong with my build!  :icon_redface:

So....I would hunker down....concentrate, and work through your build marking the schematic as you go with a highlighter.

You will find it!

Or.....it might just be a bad part.  :icon_wink:
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

Post up some voltages and a schematic and we can help you look through it. Isn't the brick made up of pt2399's? Seems they have a huge consistency problem. Maybe that has finally translated into the bricks?
