I'm trying to setup my Eagle board layout for a professional clean image to include in documentation.
Setting Layers: Top, Bottom, Pads, Vias, Dimension, tPlace and tNames displays everything I want.
However, I've smashed my tNames part labels to fine tune their placement, and I'm left with the little smash crosses used to move these labels around. Unsmashing them reverts the label placement to its default location.

Anyone know a good tricks and tips for configuring board layouts for PDF Documentation? If I'm OCD about this, do I need to delete all these labels and reapply in a drawing program?

Click on Display
Right click on tOrigins & bOrigins
click on Okay

This will remove the origin cross hairs.

Print as PDF

Remember to go back into Display and add tOrigins & bOrigins back in after you "print" the PDF or...
you won't be able to move any of the components.
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

Thanks, but I have those layers hidden. They are for the origins of parts. I'm talking about the tNames labels for parts (e.g. R12) which, when smashed so you can move them, have their own cross symbol (e.g. +R12).

for top : Alt+T

Display Bottom Pads Vias Unrouted Dimension bPlace bOrigins bNames

for none displayed
Display None : Alt+N

if you want to make documentation
dont forget to click ratsnet in last step. hoho
for pdf : use print -> print to pdf, im use foxit, so print Foxit
for image : export -> image, set resolution (usually 600dpi), its usefull for display in web/blog etc

+tips : use blogger/picassa to host your image. its fast and free. hehe. unless you hate google product!

I think what I need to do is edit the packages, so default location and font size is ideal for the part without needing smashing. I've been smashing pretty much everything, but its easy to open up the package and update the defaults right from the board.

This is the results I achieve with the instructions that I outlined:

When you "click out" the Origins, you can still see the designation "crosshairs" until you actually save the image to PDF.

Edit: As it turns out, the Origins layer does nothing to the Name crosshair but...when you create a PDF...the Name crosshairs do not appear on the finished PDF.
