my rehearsalstudio was burgled  last week and I lost two les paul's and my amp. thankfully my favorite guitar was at home and I still have the pedalboard with the jcm2000 preamp clone, so all I need to get back on track is a poweramp ( no thanks to my Insurance Company.. :icon_evil:  )
so I started drawing up a plan for something that would be easy to build, doesnt cost much, have some collour and has a more benigne clipping than  most Power-IC  based amps does ( at least the ones I tried.)
there is nothing revolutionary here, just a feedback controlled, adjustable clipping stage wich lets you limit the Power and add some collour. the clipping can be symetrical or asymetrical and a LED indicates when the amp saturates.  the clippers could be any pair of transistors or possibly even FETs.
this is just a concept as of now, therefore no values but I Think you get the idea

any thoughts? ..have I overlooked anything cruciall?....

thank's

Forgot the schematic...
the two opamps at the end could be any af the more popular Power ic's. I plan on using LM1875, since I have them..

ok...work on this has been very slow, but I thought one or two people might enjoy this...
I simmed the limiter part, that is supposed to keep the chipamps from clipping ugly, and helps with sustain at low level playing, and the simm at least seems to do what I hoped it would.

red is input. blue is after firts opampwith and yellow is output
the cap below the two transistors, it is possible to tilt the eq towards a darker sound when limiting ( a slight offset can be seen on the leading edge of the slope of the wave, due to this cap, bigger cap=bigger offset)...I THINK thats ONE of the Components missing in typical solid state amps....but I dont know...

any thoughts?
