DMM clone modulation knob, linear vs audio taper

This is a general question, the pic below is just showing off a build I'm quite proud of.  I just made this Madbean Total Recall pedal, which is a big box DMM clone.  I used original MN3005 chips pulled from a few old junked DOD pedals I found, and after a long period of neurotic biasing, I got it dialed in and it sounds fantastic. 

The one thing I'm not a fan of is the behavior of the modulation knob.  The modulation gets obvious, swampy and weird quite early on the dial, well before 12 o'clock.  I'm generally much more interested in subtler, ambient type modulation than obvious chorus or swamp effects (though there's certainly a place for those).

The stock build uses a linear pot for modulation.  Is there anything that would prohibit using audio taper for modulation, generally speaking?  If I understand correctly, I would have a lot finer control over the subtler end.

No.  In fact, looking through some clone build documents I have, a log pot is indicated.

Interesting, thanks.  I checked the Total Recall instructions again to be sure, and it indicates a 100kB pot for modulation.  I'll probably switch mine to 100kA.
