Hello everyone :) I'm planning to build a ruby amp , since it is the simplest schematic for me to understand and build , and i hate my Digitech RP200 . I don't want to build a cabinet for the amp , and i need it for practicing with the band . We have a small pa , so it will be going into the PA through a DI box with cabinet speaker simulation (probably JOYO JDI-01) . So my rig would be Guitar -> Booster/Drive pedal -> Ruby amp -> DI box -> PA . Will it sound good , because ruby is only 1/2watt ? And will i have signal latency ? Thanks :)

The ruby amp wouldnt really sound that good. You don't need amp capable of moving a speaker if you're just going to be running DI.

Just a simple preamp would do. If you're going to relay on stompboxes for distortion you can try something like the Runoffgroove Tonemender so you just have some simple EQ http://www.runoffgroove.com/tonemender.html . And yeah, a cabinet simulator is a must because distortion sounds awful when you hear it through full range PA speakers.

And no latency :)

Cab sim.  Go from there, add distortion/OD to taste, whatever you prefer.  Hard to tell you just what will sound good to YOU.

But you HAVE to have the cab sim, or you will be sickly disappointed!!!   That is what the newer multieffects pedals have, where you select "Amp" or "PA"...they're inserting a sim in your path....
