So I am going to change the caps on my 90' x100b (among other things) and was thinking about putting in caps with a higher uF. Right now they are 22uF. My goal is to get tighter bass with out killing all the top end. So would you suggest this (safe)? How how is too high? My options are 22uF (stock) 30uF, 33uF, 47uF, 50uF and 100uF. I understand voltage must be the same or higher than stock values. I just wanted to get thoughts on higher uF values for tighter bass. Thanks

What caps? What's a 90' x100b ? TLI (too little information).

This?

The 22uF caps I can see are in the power supply and will likely have no effect on the bass.

yes.

So the filter caps will have no effects on a tighter bass or punch. Am I incorrect by saying lowering the uF will give it a looser or spongyer feel ?

You need to think about surge currents and the effect on the diodes and transformer if you increase the capacitance values right after the B+ diodes.

Have you tried a different speaker(s) or cab(s)?
