I built the Ring Fronbincator on the weekend as per http://www.geofex.com/PCB_layouts/Layouts/frobn.pdf

The LFO wouldn't oscillate until I replaced R11 with a 20k trimmer wired as a variable resistor.  I think I ended up with it set at about 6k.  Thanks to whoever posted this tip originally (MartyMart?) ,  it saved me a lot of trouble.

The ring mod was a bit noisy,  I couldn't get the Tr2 to do much to reduce the noise with high speed and ring mod settings.  I've just read a post about replacing R6 with a 1M resistor.  I might try that sometime.

In the end I removed the switch,  shorted the connection and replaced C5 with a 47nF capacitor.  I guess that makes it just a frobnicator now.  The tremolo sounds really nice and is noise free and I get a decent range with the frequency knob.  Thanks to John and Geofex for the schematic.

been fighting this pedal for some time now. I keep coming back to it since it has interesting potential. Just can't get rid of that noise in ring mod mode. I built it using the above schematic, but added an adapter jack and true bypass switch. Oddly, now the LED3 is always lit even when the pedal is "bypassed". The circuit is powered with an adapter, and sounds perfectly quiet when off. But I'm wondering how I can get that LED to turn off when the pedal is bypassed - and would that help with the noise issue?

led3 is in series with the Iabc pin, so it should flash in time with the oscillator, which runs all the time. does it blink in trem mode? what does the noise sound like?
