Fetzer valve as buffer?

Maybe the James EQ is the problem? A Baxandall stack would eliminate the extraneous gain stages. I shied away from using one because I tried it before and didn't work worth a lick, but it was almost certainly a wiring issue (or possibly the resistors I picked were too small..). I should breadboard this and see if it helps with the noise.
