Why not reduce instead off add volume? Simplest build and no power supply issues to think about (unless you want an LED).

Cool....I have no technical background in this stuff...just a creative mine/logical thinker...so I usually try to simplify things to get an answer before getting more complex and getting lost or roadblocked.
