Boss RV-3 Noise issue, need some help here!

My friend has a Boss RV-3 Pink Label MIT pedal, and its noisy...Not just a little hiss but when you move the signal mix knob anywhere from total dry signal the hiss and noise is unbearable. This pedal is beat up and I have yet to get the back off because of a rusted screw. has anyone heard of a noise problem like this before? Any ideas?

BUMP. I'm having this very same issue. strange part is it's only on the output A, not output B, which makes me hopeful there is something I can fix about it.
