I found an old surround sound box and I could see an mn3007 inside I think there was another 1 or 2 mn chips but not numbers I recognized. Would it be worth it to but to try and pull the mn3007?

Are the MN chips in sockets? If so I would say yes, if not ........it's a risk!

Good info on the subject here:

MN3007s are at this time very inexpensive and sourced very easily....so....I would say if you can get this thing for next to nothing than it is worth it.

Now if there are MN3005s in there....that would be another story.  :icon_wink:

It might have been a 3008 I can't remember i just know it was one I recognized as being used in stompboxes. I might run back there later and take another look. It was like $7 so... Might be a bit much.

That's where it's at.

I think I will if it's still there later today. There might be a few gems in there and if nothing else, I can use the jacks and enclosure for something.

Well I went back and it was gone.... Shoulda pulled the trigger I just didn't want to spend the money to find out there wasn't much chance to save it

I think you made the right decision....make sure that you are not overpaying.

You can get five MN3007s for $4.80.

and here's 10 for $6.99.

These should be the real deal. There are way too many of these available on the market to bother with relabeling/counterfeiting.
