Hi,

I'm having a problem with a 4 knob Keeley Comp i'm building. I found the below on an older post. My voltages match with the exception on IC pins 2 and 3. I'm getting only 0.4v at both pins. And Q1 - C 7.5, B 2.1 and E 1.6

Links to the schematic and layout are at the bottom. I have a sneaking suspicion i've made a mistake in the layout somewhere, but i can't see where for the life of me.

As always, thanks for any help you can offer.

IC1

1.   NC
2.   4.6
3.   4.6
4.   0.0
5.   0.7
6.   2.7
7.   9.0
8.   NC

Q1

C  6.6
B  2.8
E  2.2

Q2

C  6.9
B  2.7 (connected directly to pin 6 of IC1)
E  2.1

Q3

C  8.9
B  0.0
E  0.0

Q4 same as Q3.  They are not conducting at the moment, as there's no input signal, so these figures are to be expected.

Q5

C  9.0
B  8.9
E  8.4

chris - your link to the picture is broken. I think the square brackets around "user" and "recent" will send the .php used here awry. maybe include in a "insert hyperlink" thing, above the "post reply" hole.

the link does now work, yes. unfortunately, the image is far away and small, hard to squint what is where. looking at your voltages, they seem right, so it may well be wiring.

have you looked up the geofex stuff for the ross/dyna compressors? the workings are similar, the number of controls differs. might be some hints there.

This should be better to view

I'm pretty sure that the problem is coming from the low voltage at pins 2 and 3 of the IC. The wiring seems to be okay, i'm getting some sound, but its got that dying battery sound.

I had a look at the Goefx page - the schematics match the one I'm following.

I realised i had the diodes he wrong way round, so have corrected them but it hasn't made a difference. I've checked all the transistors to make sure they're working okay.

I've been over the board and layout again and again, but can't see any other problems. i'm totally baffled!

Thanks for looking at this, i really appreciate it.

well I'm afraid that's about as far as I can help. I'll look over the layout in the interim, and you will be posting some pics of the actual thing, both sides, even if bad solders.

there are people here who know this stuff, but they are hiding, so you need to use the to find the threads about the 3080 voltages, and what they should be. the dyna threads will apply.

ok, well I found a few things on yer layout.

you have too many "Q1"'s.
you have too many "Q2"'s.
you have too many "D1"'s.
and here is the part that matters, both of your D1's are upside down. the K should be to the base of each Q2.

I didn't try to untangle the wirings.
