Hi, first time poster.
Been building kits for a few months now, so where as I might be getting pretty good at soldering/wiring up... I'm still pretty cluesless when it comes to fault finding. Anyway, I'll get to the point.

Built this;
http://pedalparts.co.uk/docs/FatAssBlooper.pdf

Everything was ok, bypass works fine. But when I switched it on/off, there was an awful pop. Once on it sounded ok, done what it was supposed to. Then I tighthened it all up in the box, and now it's stopped working.

Again, in bypass, fine. But when it's on, faults. I can hear a very faint signal from the snd/rcv path, and when I run the effect I'm sending it to (distortion) full volume, it goes all digital/feedback like, noisey, crackly.

From what I can see, everything is where it should be, nothing touching anything it shouldn't etc. Like I said, it worked for 5 minutes, then it went bust.

So at this stage, I'm clueless. Still waiting to hear back from the kit designer, but I thought I'd check with you guys as well.

Thanks!

Alan

hello and welcome, xgiant.

looking at that circuit, and it isn't easy to read, there is no pulldown resistor on C3, which may or may not contribute to your popping. as for the thing not working, I am obliged to point to this first:

and if the circuit worked until you tightened, you've answered your own question, and have some probing to do.
