I am building a Big Muff Pi, and was wondering:  in what order do you put the transistors?  Lowest to highest Hfe?  Highest to lowest?  Whatever sounds best?  I am using some 2n5133s that are between 350 and 450  Hfe.

Thanks.

I don't think it makes a whole pile of difference, unless the hFE is particularly low.  Check out the discussion at Kit Rae's Big Muff site ("Is There Mojo in Vintage Components?" section).  Use sockets and audition them!

Lowest to highest Hfe?
I never built one, but I read often that is the good method.
