Anyone have any experience with BCY59 transistors?

I wanted to stock jellybean transistors, initially wanted to get 2N3904s, but then found these at the local supplier: http://alltransistors.com/transistor.php?transistor=24531, at €0.05 a piece they are almost 3 times cheaper than the 3904, I was thinking of ordering a bunch of these instead and then get some 3904s and 3906s for complementary usages.

Question is, how is the sound, e.g too noisy or some other problems? Well I could use them for switching anyway.

I don't want to be misleading, so take this with a grain of salt. I remember using some BCY5x metal can types way back in 80's. I'm not sure about the exact type it was, but I'm pretty sure remembering being not impressed by any of them.

But what do I know. They may be the hidden treasure for what you're looking for?
