I talked to a guy who builds electric guitars with piezo and magnetic pickups with a stereo jack. He wants me to build a box that will send piezo signal to amp A or PA system and magnetic signal to amp B and he wants to be able to switch back and forth with one foot switch without an extra noise from either amp. Is doing this effectively as simple as an AB Box? I'm thinking there is probably more to it than that.

It could be that simple. You could also include a preamp or at least a buffer for the piezos to help retain their high end over a longer cable length (to the PA). As long as it is one channel operating at a time (not both at the same time) you should not need transformer isolation or anything like that.

He has an onboard preamp for the piezo. Now if he did want to operate both at the same time what would I need for transformer isolation? Is there a project for something like that?

Would something like this work? I think it would need to be modified for 2 in 2 out?

Yes, the splitter from GEOFX would be just the thing.

Cool thanks. I don't really need it as a splitter though and I'm unsure how to modify it. There would be two separate signals coming through a stereo cable and each signal is going to a separate amp, I just need the ability to switch which one is active with an option for both.
