What would be the effect of using a switching diode from gate to drain on a jfet.
Any advantages, Disadvantages. and which fet would it work best on if any?
Thanks.

As seen here in the semenov boogie thread
I realise the diodes are only used on the mosfets here.

That is for ESD or other transient overvoltage protection on the MOSFET.  There is no benefit at all to this on a JFET.  This is built into the JFET by the nature of the PN junctions between G-S, G-D, so it would not do anything beneficial.

If you oriented it the way it is for a MOSFET, then the JFET drain being more positive than the gate would forward bias the diode and make the circuit not even work.

Thanks man
ESD that makes sense.
However when I tested it this morning with the diode in place the circuit still worked but it didnt really bring anything to the game so I took it out.
No sense in wasting a 2bit diode if it isnt a game change. :icon_exclaim:
cheers Transmogrifix everyday I'm learning. I just wish my miniscule brain could retain more of it.

I'm still getting a lot of unwanted noise. I'll try to explain it tommorow and maybe get some help eliminating it
thanks guys
