Circuitmaker is good. I used it a lot at one time in the past. There were some issues with it and later windows editions, but I suspect that if they're offering it free, that's been cleaned up.

Altium probably noticed that Cadsoft (Eagle) was getting most of the converts to PCB layout by having a free starter.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

If they just noticed that, this is old-old news indeed.

I have here my "evaluation" MicroSim pSPICE-suite from 1996. Free, and at the time there were several "comparable" vendors, so they had to give a free taste. (Full software, limits on complexity of project.)

Free to me but not to them. In 1996 there were no mega-downloads via 2400-baud modem. Two CDs and a nice booklet in a nice 4-color envelope, delivered by a US Government employee.

I just re-installed my "evaluation" copy. Takes me a long time to evaluate sumthing. Wants Windows 3.1, I gave it Win7-64bit, and it runs as clunky as it ever did.

Well, not exactly free. What I read, cloud storage only and all your projects are open to all users. I stick to eagle free version. More than enough for me.
