I love where this thread went.

when I left high school, we had "a book", just chockers full of numbers. log tables. (also trig function numbers.) when I got to technical college, I couldn't work the necessary scientific calculator (still can't, mostly). a few years later, I was working in a bookshop that got in a run-out of slide-rules, as a novelty item. so I bought one, a nice, klunky faber-castell.

and I not only can't work that, but have forgotten anything I ever learned about trigonometry.

I am in chapter three in EET school, Ohms law. lol. My math class is going good so far..the filthy physics, trig and calculus seems to kick in around chapter 4 & 5 on up ..this looks like a calculus book in that its probably is good for 2 semesters ..my math book probably covers enough for 3 semesters ..professor already said we are skipping chapters and only covering so much at the entry level class..but these are the kind of word problems we are doing right now, finding the missing variable to see if a everything works in a circuit.
