I have to ask - is it possible you have a "tails" feature?  I have tails-or-bypass on my delay pedal. The first time I turn it on with the tails feature, it pops loudly. Then it will be quiet when you kick it on for the rest of the evening. I could find the cap and address this issue, but it's not a priority.
