Hi, i have to change the led in ibanez tube screamer because i can't see with the origina one if the pedal is on or off.
the image is this:

could i change it with this without problems? or i have to put some resistor or something else?

thanks

antonis

Can't say for sure..

You have to measure/find/estimate LED's working current and replace the limiting resistor (in case of different currents)

If you have a schematic it's an easy case..
"I'm getting older while being taught all the time" Solon the Athenian..
"I don't mind  being taught all the time but I do mind a lot getting old" Antonis the Thessalonian..

It will work fine. Make sure to install it with correct polarity. It will probably be very bright, perhaps too bright. If so, remove the resistor right next to it, measure it, install something bigger.

Hi, i've changed and i have a faint light.. i can't see it... maybe is the resistance?????

where i could find it to change??? is this???

no thats a diode leave him there...

trace the led wires back to the nearest resistor/s...

what value is/are that/they?.. (what colours on the bands)

Sorry but there is no resistor near the led. From the led there are two cable. One go to the right and one on the left of the board.... Then in the middle there are a lot of resistance... Is not clear...

do you mean there is a resistor behind the led board?.

I mean that as you could sere from the first image there is a mini board with only led and two cable red and pink. The is no resistor on this Board. The 2 cables go to the main board . Red in the right up... Pink in the left up.. In the middle there are a lot of resistence and diodies etc etc... I can't say wich is the resistence of the led....

Follow the two red and pink wires from the LED board to the main board one will go to a place which will then be also connected to a resistor. That will be the current limiting resistor needing to be altered.

Hint. Most likely the pink wire. Red might go to 9v which would power the LED then the led will connect to a resistor (through the pink wire) and that will ultimately go to the footswitch.

this is my board.... do you think is the R131 that i need to change? and i have to change with a 4k7?

Done an' workin'=Too many to mention - Tube addict!

Hi,
the problem is solved!

Now the screamer has a wonderful green led.

i've notice that the previous owner has yet changed the led but not the resistor, i think in this way the red led has not enough energy.... i've changed the led with a green one and the resistor...

Thanks!!!
