Nice! I assume that the ground for the 555 would be the same ground as your effect. In my experience of using 555s as a tremolo LFO, it can be difficult to prevent the 555 from causing a "pop" that can be heard through your amp. Have you tested an effect connected to the relay while using the same ground as the flip flop circuit?
