More treble for barber Direct Drive compact ?

Hi there !!..... I just bought a 2nd hand Barber Direct Drive Compact.... it's the 2nd one I have after I sold my DDSS a few years ago. It really sounds wonderful and nails that "vintage british" kind of tone, in between OD and dist, very very smooth and liquid sounding.

I just have an issue with it, which I remember I also had with my DDSS.....it's quite dark sounding. I have my tone control all maxed out but it's not enough really.

maybe lowering the 3K resistor in between stages ? Otherwise any ideas are welcome..........

I would suggest making the 3n3 across the diodes and/or the 2n2 after the tone pot smaller.

Or you can work on the output cap. The 4.7uF as output cap seems to me a bit peculiar, I think you could reduce it. But I don't know the pedals.

The above is a good place to start

And there are more places to adjust the treble
Decreasing the .022uf at the 2nd stage input, cutting bass like treble boost
You can adjust the EQs at the first gain stage and 2nd gain stage

Because of number of places you can adjust this I would make a spice model and test different component values
